Student Guardian Visa (subclass 590) Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Student Guardian visa (subclass 590), you must meet the following requirements:
- Be the student’s parent, custodian or relative who is 21 years or older
- Have enough money to support yourself and the student during your stay
- Be able to provide accommodation, welfare and other support
- Be in or outside Australia when you apply for the visa
- Meet our health and character requirements
- Have enough money to pay for your stay in Australia and the student’s costs and expenses
- Be a genuine temporary entrant and intend to return home after supporting the student in Australia
- Have paid back any debt to the Australian government
- Not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused
You can apply for the visa in or outside of Australia. If you are in Australia, you must hold a substantive visa except for a few exceptions. If you are bringing children with you, you must make adequate welfare arrangements for their accommodation, support, and welfare. You and your family members must have and maintain adequate health insurance for the entirety of your stay in Australia.
