Eligibility Requirements for Special Purpose Visa
To be considered for a Special Purpose Visa, you must meet the following requirements:
- Have a ‘prescribed status’, which includes but is not limited to:
- Being a member of certain foreign armed forces
- Being a person on board a ship of a foreign armed forces
- Being an airline, or airline positioning crew member
- Being the accompanying spouse or dependent of an eligible person with a prescribed status

Your Obligations under the Special Purpose Visa
The Special Purpose Visa remains valid as long as you have a ‘prescribed status’. If your prescribed status ends, the visa will cease. You are expected to obey all Australian laws and comply with all legal obligations tied to your ‘prescribed status’. Health insurance is highly recommended to cover any unforeseen medical treatment.
