What Does This Mean for You?
These changes have significant implications for those hoping to live and work in Australia after graduation. Here's a breakdown of who is affected and what you can do:
For Prospective Students:
- Align your study choices: Ensure your chosen course and qualification level align with your preferred visa stream and long-term career goals in Australia. Consider whether a vocational qualification, Bachelor's degree, or Master's degree best suits your needs.
- Factor in age and location: If you are nearing 35, expedite your study plans to graduate and apply for the visa in time. If you're interested in a second Temporary Graduate visa, consider studying in a regional area.
For Current Students:
- Confirm your eligibility: Carefully review the updated requirements to determine which stream you now qualify for based on your educational background and age.
- Act promptly: If you are approaching the age limit or your current visa is expiring soon, start your 485 visa application as soon as possible.
For Graduates Over 35:
- Explore alternative pathways: While the Temporary Graduate visa may not be an option, investigate other visa pathways such as skilled migration visas, employer-sponsored visas, or state-nominated visas.
For Everyone:
- Seek professional advice: A registered migration agent can provide personalized guidance based on your individual circumstances and help you navigate the complexities of the visa application process.
