What’s the difference between a Working Holiday Visa and a Work visa?

And how do I know which one I should apply for?

If you've ever wondered this, you're not alone. Many of our clients often ask us these questions too. Hopefully, today's post will help you decide which working visa suits you. 

A working holiday visa or a work and holiday visa is only available for 18-30-year-olds from certain, reciprocating countries. This visa allows you to work in short-term casual employment to fund your travels and expenses in Australia.

This visa is great if you are looking to live and work in Australia for a short period of time (12 months or less).

On a working holiday visa, you are permitted to work for one employer for 6 months at a time and, if you undertake some seasonal work in regional parts of Australia for 3 months, you may be able to apply for a second working holiday visa.

Recently, there have been talks of the age limit being raised from 30 to 35; however, the Australian government is still considering its options at this point, and the current requirement of 30 years of age remains intact.

On the other hand, if you are looking to live and work in Australia permanently, then you’ll have to apply for a work visa.

There are three different types of work visas: Skilled Independent Visa, Skilled Nominated Visa and Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa.

It’s not always easy to determine which of the work visas is appropriate for you but taking a free eligibility assessment is a good start. Changes that are starting this July
